Unfit for the road

It's a pretty sad day when you find out that you're unfit for the road. I went to get a new DOT card today and they wouldn't give me one because my blood sugar is a little high. Makes you feel pretty good when they tell you, sorry, you're so out of shape that you cant even drive a semi for a living, really good for the self esteem. I had a good job lined up and was supposed to start tomorrow. I feel like drinking myself into oblivion.....

Chewless in Rantoul

Well, I'm still in job search mode. I thought I had a job lined up this week, oh well. Easy come easy go. The guy called me at 7:23 AM Monday morning, well, I slept in. So I called him back around 10:30, and he had already found someone else. This after he called at 7:30 on a Sunday night. Sounds strange to me. Like I said, oh well. Good thing there weren't any cliffs around though cuz a brotha was a little heated.

I haven't had a chew in a few days, I could really use one. Anyone who wouldn't mind donating a pinch for your fellow dipper, it would be much appreciated. 623 Willow Pond Rd.........free game!

Gettin Tired of the I-L-L

Ok, so here I am on a Saturday evening already reminiscing about the Illini and their lackluster homecoming game against a weaker Big 10 opponent in the form of the Minnesotta Golden Gophers. Minnesotta started the game with an impressive drive. Nothing new to us Illini fans, we're used to giving up big plays and big scores. So on the Kick Return, ol Regis cant field the ball cleanly, it goes into the endzone, he decides to bring it out anyway and has a great return of 2 yards. Woohoo, we start at the 2 yard line. The rest is history. Untimely line colapses, cant score when we have 1st and goal inside the 10. Can't hold on to the ball. Can't tackle people. I'm just plain sick of it. All this talent and we lost to Minnesotta, on Homecoming. Ok, I forgot, lets go to Missouri, lets go to Penn St., lets go to Michigan and score a combined 116 points, and only 20 at home against the Gophers. Tough to make a Bowl Game like that. Way to get your team motivated for Homecoming there Zooker.

Clinton Lake is no Orono

Fishing can be rewarding for many reasons. One of which is just the peace and quiet. A person can think deeply and earnestly while casting or jigging. Lots of ideas and scenerios can be played out in your mind while enjoying a day on the lake. It relieves stress in ways nothing else can. Soaking up the sun, enjoying a nice little breeze off the lake, watching the birds as they swoop in to try and get their next meal, seeing a youngster and the joy on his face as he reels in his prized catch, and being out in nature away from the everyday bump and grind/hustle and bustle life that we have become accustomed to in the 21st century at 1 million miles an hour. It's nice to slow down.......

Hemrich and I journeyed out to Clinton Lake this past Sunday. We(actually he) only caught 1 small Blue Gill....which is why I say Clinton Lake is no Orono.....LOL(They weren't HITTIN!!)

Back to life, back to reality

Well, what can I say? We just got back from an awesome week of fishing at Lake Orono up in Northern Ontario, Canada. The first few days were off the chain. Non stop Walleye action! All in all we had a great week, decent weather, decent fish, good eating(as if I had to say that). There were some monster Pike caught too I might add, we had a 42", 41", 40", 38", 36.5" and 34.5". Of course I wound up with the latter but am still grateful to have landed it.

So until the next time I can venture off to a little slice of Heaven on Earth, it's back to life, back to reality..............

Grocery Day

Sunday is our grocery buying day at super wally world in the gooner-one step closer to our vacation being realized! As with everybody else, I have been looking for things to do to pass the time until 9/10/2008. Heck, a few days ago Hemrich and I almost went out to the honey hole to get more minnows. Then I realized we already had more than we could probably use and so we decided not to. I just cant quit thinking about the trip and anything I can do to make the time pass faster is my goal. 10 days and counting.........

tomorrow makes 2 weeks!

It seems like yesterday that this trip was forever away. We started at months. We changed to weeks. "Just think" we said "In 11 weeks we will be in Canada"....."In 10 weeks we will be in Batty Blue heaven"....and the countdown continues to where we are now, 2 weeks and a day. Long ago it seemed like forever and a day, but now we are almost within a stones throw which is awesome. Just think, very soon we will be saying days instead of weeks, high 5! So, who wants to throw $5.00 into a Pike or Walleye pool. Maybe we can say whoever lands the biggest fish gets their meal paid for at the Chocolate Moose on the return trip.......something to think about. Damn boy......looks like I'm gunna be eatin gooooooooood! Later!
